BRANCH CHAIR
Responsibilities of the Chair
The Chair has overall responsibility for the management of branch affairs
and needs to:
- ensure that the activities agreed by General Meetings or the Branch Committee
are being carried out.
- liaise regularly with the Secretary and Treasurer to see how branch activities
are progressing and whether any guidance is needed.
- know the branch constitution well and, therefore, be able to rule on the
propriety of any planned activity.
Meetings
The Chair has a particular role to play at meetings where he/she is responsible
for:

maintaining good order and ensuring meetings are conducted
in a business-like manner.

approving or amending the agenda that is circulated prior
to the meeting.

deciding on points of order during the meeting.

adjourning the meeting.

voting as a member of the branch.
-
exercising an additional casting vote, as Chair, when necessary.
