Course Choice

Course Choice: This is the section of the Learner's Guide that provides guidance on course choice and qualifications and tells students what it is like to study with the OU.

Choosing your first course

Choosing your first course: This activity in Course Choice is for people who are thinking about studying with the OU, but who never have. It helps them to choose their first course in order to get their OU studies off to a good start.

Career Planning

Career Planning: Provides advice on career development. It also includes a Career Toolkit with factsheets, example CV's and resources.

Learning Skills : Enhances study skills for effective learning - includes online toolkit Revision and Examinations, which was runner up for the National Library for the Blind Visionary Design Awards 2003

Web Guide

Web Guide: A short guide to help students in using the Internet and the web.

NOTE: By 2007 it will be mandatory for ALL students to have internet access for academic and administration purposes. Paper based procedures MAY then be withdrawn

Assessment: Aims to help students with queries they may have about the assessment of their OU studies.

PC and your studies

Using your PC for study: Identifies how a PC can be used in an OU course, includes tips to get started and links to resources to improve skills.

NOTE: Currently, when the OU mentions computers it will normally refer to PC's. Macs and non-Windows Operating Systems (ie. Linux) are not usually catered for.

Friends and Families

Friends and Families: A site for the friends and families of enquirers and students. It gives a brief summary of the OU, the type of work that students will be doing and ways in which this might impact on their time.
