From the OUSA Constitution

(i). For each region but not including sub-regions there shall be a Regional Forum (RF)
(ii). The Regional Forum shall ensure that all catchment areas of the Open University within the region are covered by branches of OUSA and shall also assist such branches. The Regional Forum shall further undertake such other activities including regional services to further the objectives of OUSA within the Regional Forum's region as are requested by OUSA Conference, by the branches in the region as expressed by resolution of the Regional Forum, or by the Executive Committee
(iii). RF's objectives are:-
A. to provide information, training, support and services to OUSA Branches within the Region and to assist such Branches in the pursuit of OUSA's objectives.
B. to provide a forum for liaison and co-ordination between the OUSA Branches in the Region.
C. to provide a forum for communicating the views of OUSA members within the Region to their representatives on the Executive Committee of OUSA and within the University's Government and Consultative Structure.
(iv). A Regional Forum shall have no power to bind or to obligate a branch to any action.

There are 13 Regions based on the OU system, plus OUSA's own extension of 3 Sub Regions. The Sub Regions cover students in the Republic of Ireland and, what the university call, Continental Western Europe (CWE) which OUSA has split into two areas, Northern Europe and Southern Europe.

Each of these 16 geographic regions have their own representative on the OUSA Executive Committee

The Regional Forum is there to co-ordinate regional activities and provide a forum for information interchange and contact in the Region.Without the 'regional representative body', there is absolutely nothing to formulate a collective opinion. The Regional Forum provides an opportunity for representatives to bring the opinions of all the Branches into one place, and to receive back information on the Student Support link, Student Academic Links, Executive Committee, etc. It is a two way path for the dissemination of information and support. The West Midlands RF meets roughly every two months but do avoid summer holidays and Residential Schools periods. The West Midlands Regional Forum covers the students and branches in the counties shown below.
